MPs on the Environmental Audit Committee have published a report backing Liberal Democrat calls for a charge on disposable coffee cups.

The Committee has called on the Government to introduce a 25p levy on disposable coffee cups and a target to ensure they are all recycled by 2023.

The Liberal Democrats have been campaigning for a charge on coffee cups since September 2016 and were the only party to include the policy in their 2017 Manifesto.

After David Davis has been accused of misleading parliament, he must resign.

David Davis needs to go. He has mislead parliament and under his leadership the Brexit department has turned incompetence into an art form.

I am not one to call for ministerial resignations every two minutes and I've nothing against David Davis as a person but it is now clear he deceived MP. He is also writing the government's Brexit strategy on the back of a fag packet.

"Under the Tories, building of both social and affordable housing has plummeted.

"Since 2015, this Conservative government has overseen the sell-off of over 25,000 council homes and replaced fewer than one in three.

"Theresa May can announce all the new council homes she wants. But if this government doesn't reform the Right to Buy by allowing local authorities to suspend it if they wish, and ensure all homes sold are replaced, this announcement isn't worth the paper it's written on.

"If the Tories are serious about tackling the housing crisis, May must also announce that she will ensure local authorities and housing associations can borrow the money needed to build more social housing."

The Liberal Democrats have launched their manifesto for a brighter future.

Change Britain's Future is a plan for a fairer Britain where people are decent to each other, with good schools and hospitals, a clean environment and an innovative economy.

Nothing is more important to our children's future than Brexit. A bad Brexit deal, with Britain outside the single market, will wreck the future for our children, our economy and our schools and hospitals. That's why at the heart of the manifesto is a commitment to give the people the final say on the Brexit deal in a referendum.

Tim Farron, Leader of the Liberal Democrats, has responded to Jeremy Corbyn's speech on Brexit.

Tim Farron said: "This confirms what we all suspected, that Jeremy Corbyn never had his heart in fighting to protect Britain's place in Europe.

"He failed to pull a shift to keep us in the EU before the referendum and now he is helping Theresa May, Liam Fox and Boris Johnson yank us out of the single market.

Below is the final version of Tim Farron's speech at the close of the Liberal Democrat conference in Brighton today.

    ****

Liberal Democrats are good at lots of things. But the thing it seems that we're best at, is confounding expectations.

We were expected to shy away from taking power, but we stepped up and we made a difference.

    Article: Sep 19, 2016

Tim Farron has rejected Jeremy Corbyn's suggestions that supporting continued membership of the Single Market is 'Free Trade Dogma', saying that free trade is vital to our economy and to millions of jobs.

He also called on Liam Fox to apologise for calling businesses too 'lazy' to export, and said that neither Labour not the Conservatives are now willing to stand up for business.

Liberal Democrat members have overwhelmingly endorsed the party's plan to offer the British people a referendum on the final Brexit deal negotiated by the Government.

This makes the Liberal Democrats the only party whose official policy is to continue campaigning for the UK to remain a member of the EU.
